Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who, for the sake of the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, so that you may not grow weary or lose heart.

Jesus’ life and example showed us how to live our lives and what to do to serve God. To earn the true joy of Heaven and love of God, Jesus endured the cross, hostility, and humiliation at the hands of other humans. God sent him to live with us to demonstrate how to live as a peaceful, kind, compassionate person, with love and forgiveness in one’s heart. Our community, our crowd of witnesses, stands with us as guide and witness to our actions. Sometimes, the path of Jesus is not understood because it is not the way of the world.

What a beautiful path for us---set by Jesus---in the name of love and God!

God bless us and keep us on the path of righteousness as shown by Jesus through his life and death. Help us to make good choices and regard our fellow human beings with love, compassion, and understanding. Amen
