Youth Gathering Friday

Friday our late nights began to catch up with us, so we drive ourselves in again, allowing us to leave at 8 rather than 7:15. The walk from the free parking wasn't bad, but the pouring rain meant soggy shoes all day. Smelly. Sorry parents!

Everyone was healthy enough to be with us today!

We spent a few hours at the Old Lutheran Shop, the Proclaim Community Center, trying to dry our shoes, and having lunch.

The afternoon found us together with all the South Eastern Synod for Proclaim Story. We heard from Bishop Eaton, Rachel Kurtz, and youth from the synod. We shared a bible study and worshipped together? the evening worship was over-the-top incredible. Rani Abdulmasih, Pastor to an Arabic speaking Lutheran congregation, moved us during his talk, and while praying in the beautiful language of his congregation.

The Motown All-Stars (Two former Tempations, a Capitol, and a
Miracle) sang and danced through Motown History and brought the house down.

Pastor Steve Jerbi rocked our high by taking us through a difficult, painful story about a young black parishoner who was killed just because of his color. He continued with a message of hope and love.

Finally, Rachel Kurtz and a young local singer with a beautiful voice sang while lit balloons descended through the arena, eventually forming lit crosses in the crowd on the floor.
