Little Free Pantry
Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Take what you need, leave what you can.
We invite you to visit the Little Free Pantry at the Pergola on 52nd Street. With a pergola shaded bench, native plantings, and a Little Free Library, this is a lovely space for spending time chatting with a friend or reading a book.
How You Can Help
- Place toiletries and shelf-stable food items in the pantry.
- Let friends and neighbors know the pantry exists.
- Place a collection basket or box at gatherings or work.
- Donate funds directly – click on the word GIVE in our menu. Choose Little Free Pantry from the drop-down menu – funds will be used to purchase pantry items in bulk.
- Order directly from our Amazon wish list and have it shipped to us.
- Volunteer to help with our backstock team – each member has a dedicated morning or afternoon to stock the pantry.
Safety
- All items should be shelf stable and not require refrigeration.
- Check that food you are placing or taking has not expired.
- Dented cans should be discarded.
- Glass and canned items are not safe in freezing temps.
- The Franklin Library has a community refrigerator for items that should be kept cold.
History:
Our youth championed and promoted the idea, while several groups at Grace helped to fund and build the pantry. The Little Free Library was moved closer, and plantings added to make the area welcoming.
Members and neighbors alike have been filling the pantry for several years. As prices and need have continued to escalate, we added a backstock room and our ministry team to make sure items are added every day. Grants, fundraising (like our June 7, 2025 Garage sale) and your help helps us add food daily.
