A November to Remember
As we at Grace move through the month of November into the season of Advent, we will spend time naming and claiming the shared grief we feel for the Church of the past. It seems that more and more we look back with sadness that the Church is not the same as it was 5, 10, 50 years ago. The hope is, that by sharing our grief we will come to terms with it and be free to move towards the future into which Christ calls us.
Next month grief will be addressed both in worship and in some interactive ways outside of services. A memorial wall will be erected in the Gathering Hall as a visual representation of our grief. More information about this will follow, but as we move into November here are some ideas to ponder:
What does grief look like?
Grief comes not just from death, but any kind of loss.
The Kubler-Ross stages of grief are Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.
How do these play out in the life of the church? Where might you place yourself at this point in time?
