Mission Action Fund’s Disaster Relief Response Interest
With the recent tornadoes in the Central Iowa area, the Mission Action Fund (MAF) representatives would like to set up a supply closet of sorts to be on the ready for the next time our neighbors are in need after a severe storm. We were thinking we could buy supplies such as tarps, plywood, nails, etc. that could be stored in the garage at Todd’s house. These supplies would be ready to go for those willing to respond for clean up duty when the next disaster strikes. We are still in the gathering of information stage, but we would like to gauge congregational interest before the purchase of any supplies. Your interest is not a commitment, but a willingness at the time of the next disaster to gather at the church with personal tools (chainsaws, gloves, hammers, tree trimmers, etc.) and pickups/cars, load the supplies and spend the day helping to clear debris or whatever is necessary to help our fellow Iowans in need. We would keep our response to a 50-60 mile radius from Des Moines. If you are interested in doing this type of work, please contact Kristin Medhurst either by phone, email or text. 515 556-8950, [email protected]
