Increased Food Pantry Need in November
As it is very likely that families and children who rely on SNAP Benefits will not receive assistance in November, please keep the Food Pantries and Little Free Pantries in mind. Ways you can help:
- Consider donating extra produce as you clean out your gardens.
- Before heading out of town for holidays, donate unexpired canned and boxed goods, bread, produce, cheeses and other unopened dairy products*, bags of pasta and beans, etc. *Foods that need to be refrigerated or frozen can be taken to one of the many local Community Fridges – St. Andrews and the Franklin Library are close to Grace.
- When making sandwiches, lunches to go, baking cookies, etc., make an extra packet and leave in one of the community fridges. Small donations are just as important as larger ones.
- Donate hygiene items – when people are struggling to eat, they need to make difficult choices. Donating hygiene items helps make those choices easier while helping to preserve dignity and reducing embarrassment at work and school.
