2 out of 3 people struggle with Medical Debt

Medical Debt Relief Campaign
2 out of 3 bankruptcies cite medical debt as a leading cause. The Mission Action Fund (MAF) Team is partnering with RIP Medical Debt – now known as UNDUE Medical debt to relieve Iowans of the burden of medical debt. UNDUE Medical Debt has access to $16 million of medical debt within the state of Iowa. The Mission Action Fund has already allocated $10,000 for this campaign. This alone will relieve $1,000,000 worth of debt within Iowa.

We are hoping to relieve $2,000,000 by the end of May. The MAF is prepared to match up to $12,000, and we are challenging other ELCA congregations in the Southeastern Iowa Synod to help.

How can I help? Every $100 relieves another $10,000 worth of medical debt.
Please consider contributing and challenging others to do so as well. Donations can be made directly to the campaign at Medical Debt Relief – Iowa – UNDUE Medical Debt through May 31st. Or you may send your donation to Grace – where we have already collected an additional $2,000. You may send a check, or use the secure online giving portal on our website https://gracedm.org/give-to-grace/ . Please write checks to Grace Lutheran Church and include “Medical Debt Relief” in the memo field.

Together, we can make a lasting impact for Iowans struggling with medical debt.
